Exploring the Art of Traditional Tie-and-Dye Craft

Adire, a centuries-old fabric art originating from the Yoruba people of Nigeria, is renowned for its intricate patterns and vibrant designs. The name "Adire" translates to "tie and dye" in Yoruba, encapsulating the unique techniques used to create this traditional textile.

Benefit of our Training

Adire training is an essential pathway for preserving and promoting this traditional craft. Through hands-on workshops and mentorship programs, trainees learn the delicate art of preparing, tying, and dyeing fabric to create exquisite designs.

Techniques and Tools in Adire Training

Participants in Adire training are introduced to various tools and techniques, such as resist-dyeing, stenciling, and hand painting. Wax, cassava paste, and raffia are commonly used to create resist patterns on the fabric before it is dipped into natural or synthetic dyes.

Communitiy Empowerment via Adire Craft

Adire training programs have become a vital tool for community development and empowerment. By equipping women, youth, and marginalized groups with valuable skills, these initiatives foster entrepreneurship and self-reliance. Many artisans trained in Adire go on to establish small businesses, contributing to economic growth and cultural appreciation.
